BGVA Main Street & Town of Bowling Green Host First Joint Business Appreciation Breakfast

Downtown Bowling Green's business community took center stage as BGVA Main Street, in partnership with the Town of Bowling Green's Economic Development Authority and Town Administration, hosted the community's first-ever Joint Business Appreciation Breakfast. Held at Historic Town Hall, the event brought together local business owners, elected officials, community leaders, and representatives from Caroline County Economic Development & Tourism to celebrate the entrepreneurs and organizations investing in Bowling Green's future.

The breakfast was more than a networking event—it marked an important milestone in the growing partnership between BGVA Main Street and the Town. Together, both organizations share a common vision: creating a vibrant downtown where businesses thrive, historic character is preserved, and residents and visitors alike enjoy an active, welcoming community. As Bowling Green continues its revitalization efforts through the Main Street America approach, collaboration between public leaders and private businesses has never been more important.

Honoring Our Community Champions

One of the morning's highlights was the presentation of the Town of Bowling Green's 2025 Community Champion Awards, recognizing individuals whose dedication has made a lasting impact on the community.

Bill Webb was honored for his invaluable assistance during the emergency Main Street sewer replacement project. His willingness to accommodate construction equipment on his property and share historical knowledge of the town's infrastructure helped keep a challenging project moving forward.

Jessica Beale received the Revitalization Award for her leadership in rebuilding BGVA Main Street during its formative years. As President during 2024–2025, she helped guide the organization from exploration to mobilization, laying the groundwork for revitalization grants, community engagement, and long-term economic development opportunities.

Emily Schantz was recognized for bringing creativity and energy to downtown through events hosted at Danity Chic Roadside Stand and local markets. Her efforts have attracted visitors throughout the year while showcasing Bowling Green as a destination to shop, gather, and explore.

Looking Back—and Looking Ahead

Attendees also heard updates from Mayor Tina Gambill, Councilmembers Jeff Voit and Randy Hageman, and Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs, who reflected on the Town's accomplishments over the past year and shared plans for continued investment in downtown Bowling Green. Their remarks highlighted the growing momentum behind business development, marketing initiatives, tourism, infrastructure improvements, and community partnerships that continue to strengthen the local economy.

For BGVA Main Street, the breakfast represents exactly what the Main Street movement is about: bringing people together around a shared commitment to preserving the community's heritage while creating opportunities for economic growth. Strong downtowns are built through partnerships, and events like this create meaningful connections between business owners, local government, and community supporters.

As BGVA Main Street continues its work as a Main Street America Accredited program, this inaugural Business Appreciation Breakfast is just the beginning.
